SUNDAY SUMMER HOCKEY
Our summer league was established in the summer of 1990 with
just eight teams in two divisions.
It has the distinction of
being the first summer hockey league for women in the GTA.
Over the years, we have grown significantly to our maximum
of thirty teams in six different divisions.
We offer a
minimum of three competitive divisions along with a
recreational division, and accept both team and individual
entries. All games are Sunday nights at Chesswood Arenas;
but we do not play on long weekends.
2014 was the 25th Anniversary of the Ladies Summer Hockey
League.
In 2019, for our
30th Anniversary, we
held a golf tournament at Streetsville Glen Golf course. |

TUESDAY SUMMER HOCKEY
Our Tuesday Summer league ran for only two seasons, 2006 &
2007. Both seasons consisted of eight teams with all games
at Chesswood Arenas. |
|
TUESDAY WINTER HOCKEY
Our winter league began in the 1997-1998 season with just
eight teams, all in one division. We originally expanded to
eighteen teams but have settled to sixteen teams in two
competitive divisions.
As of the 2006-2007 season, this
league is open to team entries only. All games are on
Tuesday nights at Chesswood Arenas. |

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WESTWOOD
LEAGUE - SUMMER It seems that one night of hockey was not enough for
a lot of players in the Ladies Summer Hockey League.
So, Westwood
Arenas agreed to give us some ice to start a Wednesday night league
in the summer. 2002 was the inaugural season with six teams in one
"Competitive" division. In Summer of 2003 we expanded to twelve
teams, which we split into three divisions for the finals.
We
reached a maximum of sixteen teams in the 2008 season, but returned
to twelve teams for the 2009 season. |

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WESTWOOD
LEAGUE - WINTER Due to the success of the Ladies Summer
Hockey League, more than a half dozen teams approached us, wanting
to participate in our winter division on Tuesday nights.
However, Chesswood Arenas has their own Men's league on Tuesdays, so
there was no ice available. We decided to extend our Ladies Summer
Hockey League - Wednesday Division, which plays out of Westwood
Arenas, into the winter season.
The 2002-2003 season was the inaugural season of the Ladies Summer
Hockey League Wednesday night winter league and we had six teams in
one "Competitive" division. By the 2003-2004 season we had expanded
to twelve teams.
Due to reduced registration in 2015-2016,
Westwood Arena reduced our ice so that we could only have
six teams for the 2016-2017 season.
Sadly, the
2016-2017 season was the 15th and final season of the Ladies
Summer Hockey League Westwood Winter League. |

SKILLS & DRILLS
We began our Skills & Drills program in March of 1998 in
order to provide assistance to those wanting to improve
their hockey skills.
The program was originally offered for the six weeks between
our Summer and Winter leagues, giving players an opportunity
to continue skating all year long.
The final night of the 2001 Fall Session of Skills & Drills
was filmed, and has been televised on the Life Channel
numerous times since first airing on November 15th 2001. |
